Song · Open E tuning
Big Yellow Taxi — Joni Mitchell
Joni Mitchell's own transcriptions list this in Open D with a capo at the 2nd fret — a common workaround so the strings don't get tuned up past pitch. Capo 2 on Open D sounds identical to Open E played with no capo at all, so that's how it's shown here: real voicings, no capo needed.
The intro rocks between A and A6 — just one finger lifting on and off — then answers with the same move up on B and B6. The chorus opens on the tuning's own open-string E5, climbs to Emaj7, leans on an Aadd9 with the E still ringing underneath, and turns around on a B7sus4.
A↔A6 and B↔B6 are the intro's one-finger lick; E5↔Emaj7↔Aadd9/E↔B7sus4 is the chorus. Cross-checked against Joni Mitchell's own published transcription (Open D, capo 2) and independent chord charts.
The intro lick and the chorus turnaround, in true Open E voicings — including the real Aadd9/E bass note.
